Manchester United starlet Paul Pogba has trademarked his famous ‘Dab’ goal celebration.
According to reports, the 27-year-old French midfielder has registered his name and ‘Dab’ celebration in eight different categories such as jewellery, watches, clothing, wallets, perfumes, and grooming products.
Pogba uses this unique style to celebrate his goals. Many players have used this style to celebrate. But no one can do that perfectly how Paul Pogba does. His distinctive pose, forming two right-angled triangles with the positioning of his hand is so perfect. It was even used in maths questions in French schools.
And now, to use ‘Pogba dab’ designs on merchandise legally, Pogba has already filed documents to the Government’s Intellectual Property Office.
A senior associate with Bird and Bird’s Intellectual Property Department in London, Jonty Warner said, “First, it bolsters their ability to take action against third parties who may be using the relevant names in the course of trade without consent.”
“It also improves their ability to enter into agreements to commercialize their personal brand.”
“By way of example, they may wish to license the trademarks to partners and earn royalties that way.”, he added.
Pogba’s club teammate Marcus Rashford has already protected his name so that it cannot be used by anyone to flog clothes, games, or books and digital media.
Another teammate Jesse Lingard also own ‘Jlingz’ clothing firm trademarked over his nickname. Pogba now becomes the third one in that list from Manchester United’s current team.
