Manchester United came into this game after a strong display against Leeds United in the opening matchday of the Premier League 2021-22 season. Pogba assisted a record 4 goals in that match.

Today, United travelled to Southampton and were held to a 1-1 draw, however, Pogba has made yet another record.

According to Opta, Pogba – who assisted four goals against Leeds on the opening weekend of the season – becomes the first player in Premier League history to register five assists after his team’s first two games of the season.

The Frenchman has been in red hot form since the very start of this season. If he continues to play like this, United will definitely be a title contender this season.

However, United will have to improve defensively as Southampton had many chances which they failed to score. Former Real Madrid defender, Raphael Varane is yet to make his debut for United.

So the fans can certainly get their hopes high this season as Varane along with Maguire at the heart of the United defense will be a solid partnership that can guarantee a lot of security at the back, so that United can go forward and showcase their attacking talents.
