Paris Saint-Germain are the Champions of France once again, winning the Ligue 1 title with three games to spare. Monaco’s 3-2 defeat to Lyon sealed the title mathematically for the capital club, ensuring that they retain their stronghold on the league title.
While it’s the first time that Luis Enrique has won the league title in France, it seems like it’ll be Kylian Mbappe’s last with Paris. The star forward has decided not to renew his contract further, and seems set to leave. With the Ligue 1 title sealed, the Champions League title could be the perfect sendoff for the France captain, but they’ll have to overcome a lot of challenges to pull that off.

PSG have restarted their streak of winning the Ligue 1 title, and are now at three, after Lille’s win in 2021. Moreover, they have won the title 12 times in their history now, more than any other club in the country. Most of them, however, came after the Qatari takeover in the 2010s.
The start of the season presented the possibility of an unlikely title challenge involving Monaco and Lille. But, both clubs are set to finish ten points behind PSG, giving them a huge margin of victory this time around too.
There have been plenty of surprises away from the title challenge as well. Lyon in particular managed to turn things around and are now in contention for a European finish after their dreadful start to the season. Marseille have performed relatively well too, in spite of their managerial merry go round. But, Brestois probably have the best story of the season, as they are only three games away from qualifying for the Champions League.
