## Why Parasakthi Is Underperforming

The film’s steep 65% drop on its second Monday signals serious trouble. Despite starring popular actor [Sivakarthikeyan](https://technosports.co.in/sivakarthikeyan-movies) and being helmed by acclaimed director Sudha Kongara, *Parasakthi* has been hampered by **mixed word-of-mouth** from audiences and critics alike.

The period drama co-stars **Ravi Mohan** as the antagonist, along with Atharvaa, Sreeleela (in her Tamil debut), Dev Ramnath, and Basil Joseph. However, even this stellar ensemble couldn’t save the film from its box office woes. ## Pongal Clash Impact

*Parasakthi* released alongside two other Tamil films during the Pongal festival—*Vaa Vaathiyaar* and *Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil*. While Jiiva’s political satire has emerged as the surprise winner with phenomenal trends, both Parasakthi and Vaa Vaathiyaar have failed to connect with audiences. The competition has significantly impacted screen availability, with *Parasakthi* losing prime show timings to better-performing films. Explore our analysis on [South Indian festival releases](https://technosports.co.in/south-indian-cinema) to understand these dynamics better.

## What’s Next for Parasakthi?

Despite the underwhelming performance, the film is expected to make a **decent lifetime total**, though nowhere near the blockbuster numbers originally anticipated. With weekday collections dropping dramatically, the film will need extraordinary growth to recover its production costs.
