Ousmane Dembele is set to be offered a new contract by Barcelona which will keep him beyond his current deal. The winger extended his contract last year after a lot of speculation, and that deal will run out in 2024.
There are also two release clauses included in the contract – €100 million until June 2023 and €50 million in July and August. Which means that clubs can trigger this clause to sign him during the summer transfer window. However, the player must reach an agreement to sign for them.
Ousmane Dembele to be offered new contract by Barcelona
One of the main reasons Dembele ended up staying last year was due to Xavi Hernandez’s presence. The manager convinced him that he was a part of the plans and that he was important for the squad.
The Frenchman was very productive with his creative efforts on the pitch last season. And this time around, he has scored eight goals and provided seven assists in 28 games across all competitions.
With competition for time from Raphinha, Gavi and Ferran Torres, Ousmane Dembele hasn’t played as much this season. But he has been influential in many games, and is set to decide his future soon.
Talks between his agent and Barcelona will start soon, and the final decision about continuing is up to the player as things stand.
