Ousmane Dembele has accepted the proposal put forth by PSG to activate his Barcelona release clause. The winger has agreed terms for a five-year contract with the Parisians, and a private €50 million release clause has been activated for the transfer to go through.
Barcelona sporting director Mateu Alemany has confirmed that the player will be leaving for PSG. “Ousmane Dembélé is on his way to Paris. The deal is done, we just have to sign all documents,” he recently said.
Ousmane Dembele to join PSG from Barcelona this summer
Barcelona had presented the winger with an offer to renew as well, but he has chosen to leave and play for the Ligue 1 champions instead.
Ousmane Dembele will join Marco Asensio, Kang-in Lee, Manuel Ugarte and Milan Skriniar as the new signings at the club, alongside former Barcelona teammate Arnau Tenas.
Barcelona have plans to allocate the money they receive from Dembele’s transfer into a deal for Joao Cancelo. The Portuguese full-back is out of the Manchester City project and is one of the top targets for Barca at right-back. A move for him depends on whether Dembele is offloaded in the coming days.
