Ousmane Dembele was the standout performer in Barcelona’s 4-0 win over Athletic Bilbao. The French winger scored one goal and provided a hat-trick of assists as the Blaugranas cruised to an easy win.
The problems that he once had with the club have seemingly been left far behind. And having been fit for what now seems like the longest time in his career with Barcelona, he is one of their most productive attackers.
Xavi praises Ousmane Dembele after hat-trick of assists
“Football is about making decisions, and you’re either right or not, and Ousmane was right today. He knows how to play the game,” Xavi told reporters.
“He’s a great winger when he’s close to the (sideline). Sometimes he performs better and sometimes he doesn’t, and today was a great day for him.
“He needs to try to be more consistent in every game. That’s why I pushed the club to re-sign him, because he’s capable of great things.”
This season, Ousmane Dembele has scored four goals and provided seven assists in 15 games across all competitions. He is almost guaranteed to make it to the World Cup with the France national team, and will be expected to deliver at the big level.
Barcelona will face Bayern Munich in a tense Champions League clash in mid-week before travelling to Valencia over the weekend.
