OTT platforms Performance review in India(2021 & Q4): Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar

In this recent time, almost everything is becoming digital, OTT platforms have become very significant nowadays. OTT platforms are therefore increasing their popularity recently in large numbers. There are a lot of options available now to watch, so people are getting confused about what to watch from the unlimited number of lists.

This generation does not watch TV at all. Everyone is investing their time on the internet, social media, and digital platform. After the rise of Covid-19, the pandemic, people have started investing a lot more time in social media as in 2020 everyone has to stay at home due to his outbreak. Cinema Halls were also shut down, so in order to cope with this new normal, nowadays, many directors and producers are creating web series which are released in the digital platform called OTT platform, which makes it easy to access any series or tv shows at any time and anywhere.

SVOD or OTT platforms market shares in Q4 2021

There has not been much market fluctuation in Q4 2021 when compared to Q3, especially among the larger platforms. Disney+ Hotstar and Prime Video maintained the same market share percentage while Netflix increased by 1%. The smaller SVOD platforms witnessed slightly more fluctuations, although without any significant changes. While Voot decreased by 2%, AltBalaji, SonyLIV, and Zee5 all increased by 1%.

Market share development in 2021

Disney+ Hotstar witnessed a massive growth of 6% from January 2021. Prime Video has remained stagnant and maintained its market share percentage, while Netflix, on the other hand, suffered decreases throughout the year, ending 3% lower than when it started.
