The 30-year-old Brazilian attacking midfielder and former Chelsea player Oscar is set to move from his present Chinese club Shanghai SIPG to Brazilian club Flamengo.
Oscar is ready to join his fifth club in his senior career as he is ready to sign for Flamengo. After serving for Brazilian clubs Sao Paulo and Internacional, he played for the English Premier League club Chelsea between 2012 and 2017. Since 2017, he was playing for the Chinese Super League team Shanghai SIPG.
Oscar: A huge potential
Oscar had a great time in his football career during his tenure for Chelsea. It was also that time when he regularly served for the Brazil national football team as he played 48 international matches between 2011 and 2015.
During his Chelsea time, the Brazilian was a regular starter as he appeared in 203 games for the Blues, where he scored 38 goals and 37 assists. In his presence, the Premier League team won two PL titles (2014/15 and 2016/17), one UEFA Europa League (2012/13) and one EFL cup (2014/15).
Oscar was known as a top talent at a young age. The versatile footballer could play in various attacking positions. Apart from attacking midfield, he could also play as the playmaker, left-winger or centre-forward.
Oscar: The downfall
Due to his inconsistency, the talented footballer failed to move up in his prime time. Just at the age of 25 years, the Brazilian footballer stunned world football by moving to Chinese football. Oscar received an offer of a lucrative salary from Shanghai SIPG as he became the fifth-highest paid player in the world at that time (a weekly salary of £400,000). Though some European clubs were also interested in signing him, the Brazilian couldn’t say no to the Chinese deal.
Since his move to China, world football has mostly forgotten Oscar. The Brazilian is now in the news due to his transfer.
From the early of this year, the Brazilian clarified his intention to leave the Chinese club. He once even claimed about the Spanish giants Barcelona’s interest in him with a huge cut of his present salary, which he was willing to do.
Now, the media reports are strongly claiming Oscar’s move to Flamengo.
