Oscar Mingueza could be a Valencia player in the upcoming days

After Newcastle United signed Kieran Trippier from La Liga champions Atletico Madrid, the Rojiblancos have turned to Valencia’s Daniel Wass as a replacement. Talks for his transfer have taken place, and they are waiting for the green light to complete the move.

New contacts in the next hours between Barcelona and Valencia for Óscar Mingueza on loan until end of the season. First called @ffpolo – talks now ongoing on percentage of salary coverage. 🇪🇸 #FCB

As a cover for Wass, Valencia are trying to sign Oscar Mingueza. The La Masia academy graduate can operate as a centre-back or a full-back. So, he will be able to work as a replacement for Los Che at least until the end of the season.

There is also the aspect of injuries to first-team defenders that Barcelona have to consider before they sanction the deal for the 22-year-old.

Opportunities for him have been limited this season, and he has made only eight appearances across all competitions. Only three of those have been part of the starting line-up since Xavi replaced Ronald Koeman. A move away from Camp Nou will surely help him earn more playing time, and his versatility will make him a valuable member of the Valencia squad, even temporarily.
