Brazilian club Flamengo are set to sign Oscar on a loan deal from Shanghai Port. It was expected that the player would not make the move, but it now appears closer than ever to becoming official.

Oscar has a contract running with Shanghai Port until the end 2023. However, it seems like a loan deal until the end of the 2022 season will be sanctioned. The player’s representatives are working to extend the duration of the deal until mid-2023.

Shanghai had agreed to let the midfielder return to Brazil in December, due to the pregnancy of his wife. However, he wasn’t allowed to play for another club during this time.

Now, though, things are different and he will be playing in his home country in a matter of days. There was a recent leak that showed Oscar wearing a Flamengo shirt ahead of the transfer, suggesting that a deal was close to being done.

Renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the image is real. So, there is a realistic chance that the midfielder could start training at Ninho do Urubu this week itself. Only the formalities remain to be sorted out now for the move to go through. There were recent reports that the move would be permanent, but a loan move seems more likely now.
