RB Leipzig are set to sign Orjan Nyland as the replacement for Peter Gulacsi. Their number one suffered an ACL injury, and will be sidelined for a considerable part of the season, if not all of it.
As a result, the Bundesliga side are signing the Norwegian international to cover for Gulacsi. Janis Blaswich has been given the nod between the posts for the time being. But, Leipzig will sign another goalkeeper in order to provide cover for the position.
Orjan Nyland to sign for RB Leipzig as a free agent
The 32-year-old most recently featured for Reading in the Championship, and has been a free agent since leaving them. Although the season is well underway, he will be playing the 22/23 season with RB Leipzig.
Nyland has arrived in the city to complete the move, and will be signing a contract until 2023. The agreement is fully in place and will be confirmed very soon. There will also be an option to extend his contract for another season.
For the Norway national team, Orjan Nyland has earned 40 caps and previously featured for Ingolstadt in the Bundesliga. He now returns with the Red Bull club, and will have a chance to prove himself at the top level at his peak years as a goalkeeper.
