OPPO Launches ColorOS 15: A Lightweight, Feature-Rich Update Built on Android 15

ColorOS 15 is now official for the Chinese market thanks to a launch during the OPPO Developer Conference 2024, and it’s built on Android 15. OPPO describes ColorOS 15 as “super light and more comfortable” in design language, thus allowing it to excel in its personalization range taking user aesthetics experience a one way up.

OPPO claims that one of ColorOS 15 new features is the ability to run superposition animation, which simultaneously brings multiple windows into play without having any effect on fingerprint response time and gives a smoother experience. In the process of system coding, delicate motion effects are combined to basically achieve a consistent sliding experience with OPPO and third-party applications.

According to the changelog from OPPO, this version brings a very slim user experience with no crashes stutters, or delays. Gaming and video calls support high frame rates with an average of 116.7 FPS, application installation speed is up to 26% higher than the other previous generation devices and third-party app first launches show a loading time reduction of around 50%.

Dubbed Aurora Engine, the new rendering architecture adopts a parallel response process that promises to boost control response time by 18% and stabilize its performance by up to +40%. In the meantime, Tidal Engine optimizes dynamic cache allocation and re-constructs the Android software stack to realize 3 times instruction acceleration efficiency improvement and a multimedia decoding increase of 22.12%. ColorOS 15 introduces the Super Xiaobu Assistant, which offers advanced system-level interaction features.

Users can effortlessly ask questions, quickly browse content, highlight information for tailored answers, and gather information using images. The AI Image Assistant also improves images – by being able to zoom in on photos without losing clarity, restoring even photobombed portraits back into focus, and adding the ability to remove reflections off glass surfaces and automatically identify pedestrians within your photo.

ColorOS 15 also includes productivity-enhancing tools like AI Voice Summary for summarizing important information from calls, AI Document Management for streamlining document handling, AI Notes for quick note-taking, and AI Help Writing for generating illustrations. A new AI document management tool supports flexible reading with various format conversions, offers creative writing tools, provides rapid summarization of lengthy documents, and features AI-enhanced search for easy document retrieval.

The update prioritizes security and privacy, employing AI Private Computing Cloud technology to secure data processing and ensure user privacy. The rollout of ColorOS 15 is set for November 2024 in China, available for devices like the OPPO Find X7 Series, Find N3 Series, OnePlus 12, and OnePlus Tablet Pro.
