OPPO ColorOSHack 2023 Finals Wrap Up, Empowering Global Developers with Upgraded Pantanal Platform

Nicole Zhang, General Manager of Software Innovation Center, OPPO, expressed her gratitude towards the global developer community for their unwavering support. She stated, “The smart products and experiences we’ve delivered to users up until now mark just the beginning. Our sights are set on the future—collaborating with developers worldwide to create services that deeply understand and intelligently cater to user needs.”

Pantanal Developer Services: Catalyzing Innovation and Streamlining Development

Since its inception in 2021, OPPO’s annual ColorOSHack competition has been a hub of innovation. This year’s theme was “Pantanal Service: Empowering Lives with Intelligence,” with a specific focus on the Asia-Pacific region and three key areas: daily life, transportation, and entertainment. The competition encouraged participants to familiarize themselves with the Pantanal Platform, develop smart services for one of the three areas, and conceive scenarios and interaction designs to pioneer a new service model for the Asia-Pacific market. The competition spanned over 150 days since its launch in July, attracting more than 200 participants from over 50 countries and regions globally.

Introduced initially in ColorOS 14, the Pantanal Platform’s capabilities, including Aqua Dynamics, offer a development framework where a service is crafted based on a single template and then automatically adapted for compatibility with various devices and access points. These tools significantly enhance developers’ productivity. OPPO provides resources such as video tutorials, written guides, codelabs documentation, a Pantanal IDE, and a Pantanal development framework to help developers navigate Pantanal effortlessly.

Global Innovation Fuelling Eco-System Expansion

The OPPO ColorOSHack 2023 revolved around three core scenarios and was enriched by a suite of newly upgraded developer services. The competition witnessed an array of impressive works, with ten making it to the finals. These projects addressed diverse scenarios like navigation, payment, social interaction, education, health, and more. After a rigorous three-hour final round, a jury comprising OPPO experts and industry experts from the Asia-Pacific region evaluated each team’s work based on app prospects and innovation to select the top three winning teams. Each winning team will receive cash prizes to support the incubation and implementation of their products.

The Malaysian team End2End’s transportation and payment project, “NavOpp,” clinched the first place. The app offers cross-device support for transportation and payment services, leveraging Pantanal’s context-detection abilities to ensure a seamless flow of information and services.

Through ColorOSHack 2023, OPPO facilitated a global connection among developers. Pantanal Developer Services eased the development process, eliminating the need for understanding the intricate underlying hardware of different devices. Building on the open capabilities of the Pantanal Platform, OPPO ColorOS will continue to offer developers a robust foundation for innovation and a platform to showcase their creations. This initiative aligns developers, entrepreneurs, and startups to ideate and implement innovative solutions, thereby enhancing the lives of 600 million ColorOS users with smarter solutions.
