OnePlus kicked off 2024 with the release of its flagship phones – the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R, marking the debut of its high-end offerings for the year. With the premium phones already on the market, attention now turns to the arrival of mid-range models such as the OnePlus Nord 5, as indicated by emerging leaks. Famous tipster Shishir has reportedly obtained details, about the OnePlus Nord smartphone revealing information about its processor, battery, screen, camera, and other features.
The Rumored OnePlus Nord 5
Even though OnePlus has not officially announced the launch of the OnePlus Nord 5 yet leaks indicate that the phone could share a camera system to the expensive OnePlus 12R. If these leaked specs are accurate it suggests that the Nord 5 might include the ultra-wide and macro lenses from the 12R along with possibly incorporating the 1/1.56 inch Sony IMX 890 sensor for impressive photography capabilities.
Leaked details also point towards the OnePlus Nord 5 being powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset along with up to 16GB of RAM. The phone is expected to feature a 6.74-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a resolution of 1.5K. While resembling the display on the OnePlus 12R in some aspects it’s rumored that the Nord 5s screen might feature an LTPO panel with top-notch peak brightness support.
Positioned in the range segment it’s speculated that the Nord 5 could be priced below ₹35,000. Internally reports suggest that the device will house a 5,500mAh battery capacity—a move in line with OnePlus’s recent strategy of outfitting smartphones with batteries. The leaked details also hint at a glass back and plastic edges for the Nord 5 by OnePlus.
Given the leaked details and the competitive mid-range market, it is anticipated that the price of the OnePlus Nord 5 will fall below ₹35,000. However, there are suggestions that the pricing could be slightly higher to mirror its resemblance to the OnePlus 12R and align with the industry’s trend towards the ₹35,000 price range for added features.
Nonetheless, OnePlus seems to be focusing on expanding its range of smartphones to meet consumer preferences without significant price variations across models. The positioning of the OnePlus Nord 5 in the market vis à vis its pricier counterpart, the OnePlus 12R remains a point of interest, for how it may impact sales.
