A recent leak hints that OnePlus could soon launch a dedicated gaming tablet and smartphone, marking a significant expansion of its hardware portfolio. OnePlus has previously optimized its handsets for gamers, but this could be one of the first times it makes hardware focused on the gaming community directly. If true, the leak indicates that OnePlus is approaching the market of competitive gaming devices with serious ambitions.

OnePlus Gaming Phone & Tablet Tipped to Feature 165Hz Fluid Display and Flagship Performance

Famous leaker Smart Pikachu has reported that OnePlus is developing a gaming tablet as well as a gaming smartphone. The company has dipped its toes into high-refresh rate screens with a few of its high-end models already. The OnePlus 13 has a 120Hz refresh rate, while the OnePlus Ace 5 Ultra takes that further with a 144Hz panel.

The newly introduced OnePlus Pad 3, which also comes with a 144Hz screen, appeared. But the gaming tablet and gaming phone that are rumored to come with a 165Hz refresh rate are believed to be taking it one step higher, becoming among the highest in the market. With that being said, they are unverified and should be taken with a pinch of salt for now.

These new devices are said to be powered by either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (known as the Snapdragon 8 Elite) or the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+, both of which have been on record as being pretty good at processing power for gaming and rendering graphics. OnePlus has employed these chipsets in its more recent flagship efforts, so there wouldn’t be much shock if it brought them back in future gaming-centric devices.

By entering the dedicated gaming hardware space, OnePlus will be positioning itself against established players like Lenovo’s Legion series and Nubia’s Red Magic lineup. Both brands are known for their aggressive performance tuning and gamer-centric features, so OnePlus will need to offer top-tier specs and innovations to stand out. If this rumor pans out, we could soon see OnePlus challenge the current leaders in the gaming device segment.
