OnePlus has recently launched the OnePlus 8T and it is not even passed one month, the tech world has shifted its focus to the upcoming flagship segment of the OnePlus: The OnePlus 9 series. This series is expected to get launched around mid-March of 2021. Recently we’ve got some render images regarding the rear camera layout of the OnePlus 9 and guess what, it shows a big similarity to the latest iPhone 12 camera design. Let’s breakdown the images and discuss the design and specifications.

We can witness a rectangular triple rear camera setup (with rounded corners) on the rear panel of the OnePlus 9. There are three cut-outs in the module: two big ones and a smaller one (supported by an LEd flash in the side-middle of those two big cut-outs). If we compare the design with the latest iPhone 12, it shows similarities in most of the aspects. The only difference is the third sensor in OnePlus 9. Now, let’s take a closer look at the camera sensors and their specifications.

Regarding the camera sensors, it has a primary sensor of 48-megapixels. It is not confirmed whether the sensor is Sony IMX689. As per the focal length and pixels, the OnePlus 9 camera will offer a focal length of 6mm, and the output pixel will be of 12MP (4000×3000 pixels). This is probably due to the pixel binning. The second sensor is said to be an ultra-wide-angle sensor, accompanied by the 48MP primary sensor. But we have no confirmed information in terms of the third sensor (macro or monochrome).

In terms of the other specifications, the OnePlus 9 will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 chipset (paired with 8GB RAM). The non-pro variant will feature a 6.65-inch AMOLED punch-hole curved display. 65W warp charging, IP68 rating, NFC, dual stereo speakers, and many more will be there as well.
