The [OnePlus](https://www.oneplus.in/) 15R (rumored) and [Realme](https://technosports.co.in/?s=Realme)GT 8 (confirmed) will both feature last year’s flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, bringing premium performance to more affordable price segments. While their Pro siblings—OnePlus 15 and Realme GT 8 Pro—sport the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the standard variants strategically adopt the proven 2024 flagship chip.

## **Strategic Chipset Positioning**

Realme confirmed via Geekbench listings that the GT 8 will run the original Snapdragon 8 Elite, while the GT 8 Pro features the brand-new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 announced in September 2025. This tiered approach allows manufacturers to offer flagship-level performance at mid-range prices by using previous-generation premium silicon.

The OnePlus 15R, expected as the globally rebranded OnePlus Ace 6 launching in India, follows similar positioning. OnePlus Ace 6 debuts alongside the flagship OnePlus 15 in China during October 2025, with the Indian 15R variant arriving shortly after.

## **Realme GT 8 Confirmed Specs**

Beyond the Snapdragon 8 Elite, Realme GT 8 specifications include 100W wired fast charging support, a 2K resolution display screen for sharp visuals, and a 3D cooling system for sustained performance during gaming and intensive tasks.

The device is expected to debut in China next month alongside the GT 8 Pro, with international launches planned by end of 2025. Pricing positions the GT 8 as a performance-focused mid-range option competing against similarly positioned devices from Xiaomi, iQOO, and OnePlus.

## **OnePlus 15R Expectations**

While officially unconfirmed, the OnePlus 15R typically follows the pattern established by previous R-series devices: taking the Chinese Ace model and rebranding it for Indian and select global markets. The Ace 6’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor suggests the 15R will deliver flagship-level performance at approximately ₹30,000-₹40,000 price range.

OnePlus historically positions R-series phones as “flagship killers,” offering nearly premium specs at significantly reduced costs compared to true flagships. The Snapdragon 8 Elite—Qualcomm’s 2024 flagship chip powering devices like the OnePlus 13 and Xiaomi 14—still delivers exceptional performance despite being succeeded by the Gen 5 variant.

## **Performance Value Proposition**

The Snapdragon 8 Elite remains an extremely capable processor featuring advanced CPU and GPU architectures, AI processing capabilities, and 5G connectivity. Using this chip in 2025 mid-range devices delivers flagship-grade performance at accessible prices—a strategy benefiting budget-conscious consumers seeking top-tier specs without ultra-premium pricing.

Both phones capitalize on the typical smartphone upgrade cycle where previous-generation flagship processors trickle down to mid-range segments, democratizing high performance. Users get nearly identical real-world performance to 2024’s most expensive flagships at fraction of the cost.

The October 2025 launches position these devices competitively against upcoming mid-range offerings from Xiaomi, Samsung, and others targeting performance enthusiasts unwilling to pay flagship premiums.
