OnePlus has shed light on its software update policy for the newly launched OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R addressing the user concerns around Android updates. The reason for hesitation among potential buyers was mainly due to confusion over it not being made clear that the pre-installed version of Android would be counted as one of four promised updates that it would receive. OnePlus 13 and 13R to Receive Android Updates Up to Android 19, Confirms Company
The two devices will get four complete Android updates starting from Android 16, as the company itself confirmed. Even though the devices come installed with Android 15-based OxygenOS 15, OnePlus guaranteed four and updates will not contain this version. As a consequence of that, users will be able to receive software updates until Android 19. They will also get six years of security updates, providing the devices with longevity and security.
Outside of smartphones, OnePlus also talked about its smartwatch update policy. The OnePlus Watch 2 and Watch 3 will get three years of software support. The Watch 2, which ships with WearOS 4, will get an update to WearOS 6 and receive quarterly security updates through 2026. The same goes for the Watch 3, which releases with WearOS 5, but will be updated all the way to WearOS 7, with security updates lasting through 2027.
