New manager for Bournemouth is Andoni Iraola following a shocking dismissal of O’Neil
O’Neil guided the Cherries to Premier League safety last season and quite obviously expected the charge this season too. However, on Monday morning, he received an unexpected phone call that informed him about Bill Foley’s decision to discontinue ties with him.
O’Neil was already on the preparation for the 2023-24 pre-season for Bournemouth, and the news came as a big blow to him. Sources suggest there have been no disagreements between the two parties, which could lead to this sudden sacking.
Earlier, Bournemouth had tried appointing Marcelo Bielsa in November but went with O’Neil instead, who was initially taking charge on a caretaker basis. Following a nine streak without victory implored the club to think of parting ways with him. But as they avoided relegation, the decision to stay with him proved to be worth it.
However, the doubts have popped up again, and the decision to call it quits with him is here.

The club seemed to rely on more experience and hence the decision to sign Iraola. He has signed a deal for two years at the Vitality Stadium.
Foley said,
“We are so excited to welcome Andoni to the club. With his contract in Spain coming to an end this summer we wanted to act quickly.”
He even added that how other clubs would want him too and his records in Spain are a lot impressive.
Speaking about O’Neil’s exit, he said,
“Gary will go on to have a long career as a head coach or a manager, but we feel that at this moment in time, a change is in the best interests of this football club.
I would like to place on record my thanks to Gary and wish him all the best for the future.”
