Seeing “Chapter 1” in a title usually makes fans start counting sequels. Director **Rajkumar Periasamy** wants you to stop. In a recent chat, he made clear that **OM Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood** is not a serialized story, and the narrative wraps up within this film.

### OM Chapter 1: Overview

| --- | --- |

| **Director** | Rajkumar Periasamy |
| **Stars** | Dhanush, Mammootty |
| **Key cast** | Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela |
| **Music** | Sai Abhyankkar |

### The Director’s Message

Speaking to Tamil media outlet Dinamalar, Rajkumar Periasamy said the “Chapter 1” label shouldn’t make audiences expect an OM 2, and the story will end fully within this chapter. The film is part of a planned duology, yet each part stands on its own.

### What Is the Story About?

According to the director, the plot follows several characters who are linked together by a particular cause. What the cause is, and why these people come together, forms the story. He compares the structure to a tree with many branches and sub-branches. He also says that while OM is an action drama and an emotional film, it can’t be narrowly labeled a “gangster” film. ### The Characters

- **Mammootty’s role** draws inspiration from the migrant American characters in Martin Scorsese’s films, moving beyond the usual image of an underworld don.
- **Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela** play roles that take them beyond their familiar on-screen personas. Sai Pallavi’s character has been reported as Nithya Reddy.

### Why the Date Changed

The film was first set for October 16, 2026, then postponed. Dhanush confirmed the change, which reportedly helps avoid a box-office clash with *Jailer 2* and Suriya’s *Scene*, both set for November 2026.

### What’s Next for Dhanush

| Project | Details |
| --- | --- |
| **D56** (tentative) | Action entertainer with director Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, expected summer 2027 |
| **Thamizh Murugan** | Directed by Vetrimaaran |
| **Possible reunion** | Reports suggest another action film with director Siva |
