Previously, the Olympic Virtual Series 2021 attracted over 250,000 participants from over 100 countries to compete. The Olympic Esports Series 2023 is another step in the Olympic Movement’s support for the development of virtual sports, as outlined in the Olympic Agenda 2020+5, and it continues its collaboration with the gaming and esports communities to create new opportunities for players and fans alike.

Not to mention, esports will make its debut as a proper medal event at the Asian Games 2022, having previously appeared as a demonstration title in 2018. The Asian Games 2022, which were originally scheduled for September of this year, have been rescheduled for September 23 to October 8, 2023.
