Olivier Giroud has confirmed that he will be leaving AC Milan for the MLS this season, with a move to LAFC imminent. The striker spent three years with the Rossoneri after arriving on a free transfer from Chelsea, and helped them win the Serie A title in 2022.

Giroud is France’s top scorer of all-time, with 57 goals from 131 games. He was also a key part of the squad that won the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and will now reunite with compatriot Hugo Lloris at LAFC, who made the move from Tottenham in the winter transfer window.

🚨🇫🇷 OFFICIAL: Olivier Giroud leaves AC Milan at the end of the season as he’s joining MLS side LAFC.

It’s the end of an era for Giroud in Europe, now set for MLS move.

“The next two games will be my last for Milan,” Olivier Giroud said. “My career will continue in MLS. I’m very proud of everything I’ve done here at Milan across three seasons. It’s the right time to announce it.

” … My story with Milan ends this year, but Milan will forever remain in my heart.”

The 37-year-old is renowned for scoring some of the most aesthetic goals in football, and has been largely underrated for most of his career. However, he has steadily delivered and has won an immense amount of silverware during his career in Europe.

Now, Milan will have to plan for a replacement in the summer and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, and Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy have been linked as potential options.
