Paul Pogba started the season in brilliant fashion, providing four assists for Manchester United as they thrashed rivals Leeds 5-1 on the opening weekend.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that the club and Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, are in talks for a contract extension: ‘Well, that’s negotiations with Paul’s representatives and the club.

‘For me and Paul, we work together every day here and we keep on trying to improve, improve the team and to enjoy ourselves. When you win games, you enjoy yourselves more.

The manager also maintained that he and Pogba enjoy a very professional relationship and do everything in their power to help the club. Pogba has been linked with an exit from Old Trafford time and time again, with PSG being the leaders to get his signature.

The player is tied to a £290,000 per week contract and only has one year remaining on his current deal. As a result, United could sell him this summer, agree a new contract to keep him at the club in the months to come or lose him as a free agent in 2022, when his deal with the club expires.

Solskjaer has stated that there is a £400,000 per week contract offer ready for Pogba, which would make him the highest-paid footballer in the Premier League. But his future seems very uncertain given Mino Raiola and his comments on Pogba’s future. Only time will tell where the midfielder’s future lies, but he is currently focused on putting on his best for Manchester United.
