The problems are increasing day by day for Manchester United. Last week after a heavy defeat against Tottenham, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was criticized by Patrice Evra as Ole made Harry Maguire the club captain after joining United just last summer.
Manchester has started this season with a defeat against Crystal Palace at home by 3-1. They won against Brighton after a very late penalty scored by Bruno Fernandes. But they lost again at home against Tottenham by 6-1.
After the match against Tottenham, multiple reports suggest that the Manchester United board has contacted ex Tottenham manager Pochettino as a potential replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge in December 2018 after a disastrous start of the season. Ole made history after a brilliant comeback against Paris from a 2-0 deficit at home. Last season he also finished 3rd in the league. He also brought his team to all three cup semi-finals they played last season.
After a decent season, it was astonishing to see Ole’s job is at stake. But Manchester United has a recent past of changing managers frequently. After 23 years of tenure of Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United has had 4 managers in the last 7 years.
After Sir Alex retired in 2013, present West Ham United manager David Moyes took charge. But he was sacked within the first 8 months of his spell. After that Luis Van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, and at last Ole Gunnar Solskjaer became the manager. But everyone failed to make Manchester United best again.
As per reports, Ole has just one month in his hand. If he fails to deliver then he will be replaced by Pochettino.
Let’s see what happens in this one month. Manchester United will face Newcastle United next Saturday in the Premier League.
