Vinicius Jr has officially extended his contract with Real Madrid until 2027, as revealed by the club on their official platforms. The new contract includes a €1 billion release clause which makes the player untransferable unless Madrid wish to offload him at any point in the future.
They consider the Brazilian one of the most important players of their project, and his new release clause shows exactly that. Others such as Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Rodrygo have also received the same release clause as part of their deals.
Vinicius Jr renews contract with Real Madrid until 2027
The winger scored 17 goals and provided nine assists in 45 games last season, and has cemented himself as one of the first names on the team sheet. He recently won the Socrates Award at the Ballon d’or 2023 ceremony for his active fight against racism and his efforts to make education more accessible in Brazil.
Vinicius Jr had signed the new contract in 2022 itself, but the announcement has been made on a high note after his recognition with the Socrates Award. This season, he also took over the famous number 7 shirt which was previously worn by Eden Hazard, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raul.
It has been a slow rise to the top for the Brazilian, who was harshly criticised during his first few years at Real Madrid. But following the return of Carlo Ancelotti, he has been completely transformed and is now one of the most prolific attackers in the world.
