FIFA had already revealed the nominees for the Best awards. The prestigious Ballon d’Or award has been cancelled for this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, so FIFA’s The Best Award will be the highest individual award for this year. The Best award ceremony was held on 17th December.
The final three nominees for the Best FIFA Men’s Player 2020:
- Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal / Juventus FC)
- Robert Lewandowski (Poland / FC Bayern München)
- Lionel Messi (Argentina / FC Barcelona)
The Polish hitman was the top scorer in every single competition that he took part in. If that wasn’t enough, Bayern won the treble last season and also won the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla to add to their tally of silverware.
It is no secret that Lewandowski would’ve won the Ballon d’Or had it been awarded, and the Bayern number 9 fully deserves the award ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, two of the very best football players ever, simply because RL9 is the best of the best right now.

Lucy Bronze, one of the key players of Olympique Lyonnais’ treble-winning team has won The Best FIFA Women’s Player 2020. She takes over the crown from USA star Megan Rapinoe.
