Mohun Bagan SG have confirmed the signing of Jamie Maclaren from Melbourne City FC on an eye-catching four-year deal. The striker is the all-time top scorer of the A-League and arrives in India after an stellar career that has seen him play in England, Germany and Australia.

Maclaren is also a two-time FIFA World Cup participant alongside his Australia and now, MBSG teammate Jason Cummings. The 30-cap Aussie international has also appeared in the Asian Cup and brings a wealth of experience with him to the Mariners.

The club recently agreed the mutual termination of Armando Sadiku’s contract, allowing the Albanian to join FC Goa. And now, they have promptly announced his replacement by recruiting a striker who is the perfect balance of prolific, experienced and still at their physical peak.

Maclaren won three league titles with City, while scoring 149 goals in the A-League, the highest of any player in its history.

With the arrival of the 30-year-old, Mohun Bagan SG now have an foreign line-up full of A-League veterans like Dimi Petratos, Tom Aldred, Jason Cummings and now, Jamie Maclaren.

Now, it remains to be seen how the new players create chemistry between them ahead of the Durand Cup, which is set to begin in just a week’s time.
