Leicester City have confirmed the arrival of Harry Winks from Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent transfer. The midfielder’s arrival has been officially confirmed by the club on their official social media profiles as well. And he has become their first new signing of the summer, in an attempt to get right back to the Premier League after their shocking relegation in 22/23.

The deal agreed with Spurs is worth £10 million, and will see the midfielder end his two-decade long association with Tottenham. During his time with the Lilywhites, he made over 203 appearances and earned 10 caps for England.

“I’m really excited for the challenge ahead. It’s an amazing club with great history and the facilities are incredible,” said Harry Winks, upon his unveiling as a new signing for the Foxes.

“I’m also looking forward to a new challenge and to challenge myself. Coming to a club like Leicester is the perfect chance to do that.”

The two clubs recently agreed a £40 million deal for the transfer of James Maddison. And while Winks is likely to replace Maddison at Leicester, the deal to sign him was completely separate from that of Maddison.

After not getting enough playing time at Spurs, Winks was loaned out to Sampdoria this past season. He made 20 appearances for the Italian club, but wasn’t able to provide any goal contributions during his spell with them. Now, he has a new challenge in the second division to try and help Leicester back into the top flight by the end of the season.
