Odisha FC have defeated Brisbane Roar 2-1 in the semifinals of the Bandodkar Memorial Trophy, earning a spot in the finals. They will face fellow ISL team FC Goa for the title on Friday, September 6.
Hugo Boumous stepped up to score a brace in the penultimate match of the tournament, showcasing his quality under Sergio Lobera yet again. The Moroccan was on the pitch alongside four other foreigners, with the manager opting to field his strongest line-up.

Boumous gave his side the lead in the 16th minute seemingly against the run of play. And this allowed Odisha FC to grow more comfortable in the match. Their Australian opponents continued to threaten, however, and nearly scored after an error from Mourtada Fall.
But, it was an error from Brisbane’s Benjamin Warland that eventually led to Boumous scoring his second goal of the night. Thomas Waddingham helped his side pull one back eventually, but they couldn’t find another goal to neutralise Warland’s error.
And with the clock running out, it proved to be decisive. The Juggernauts now have a big match coming up against the home team, which will be a great way to prepare for the upcoming ISL season.
