A slide from what appears to be Nvidia’s final presentation of its GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card has been published by VideoCardz. The add-in-final board’s cost and some of its specifications are disclosed on the slide. It specifically states that the item will cost $599 and have a 200W total graphics output.
The GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card from Nvidia is anticipated to go on sale in mid-April, but the majority of its specifications have been known for some time, albeit not from the manufacturer. The upcoming GeForce RTX 4070 vanilla version from Nvidia uses the same AD104 graphics processor as the RTX 4070 Ti, but it only has 5888 CUDA cores that run at 1920 MHz to 2475 MHz. The GeForce RTX 4070 has a 12GB GDDR6X memory subsystem with a 192-bit interface, just like the “Titanium” version.
Total graphics power (TGP) for the new graphics card is reportedly 200W, which is significantly less than that of the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti (285W) and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti from Nvidia (290W). This would give manufacturers of graphics cards the ability to downsize GeForce RTX 4070 cooling systems, maximising compatibility with smaller computer cases.
This is another reason why this board is likely to rank among the best graphics cards currently on the market. According to the slide, the new board will have lower idle power and video playback power than its predecessors.
The GeForce RTX 4070 is anticipated to produce roughly 29 FP32 TFLOPS of computational power, which is comparable to the GeForce RTX 3080 despite having a significantly scaled-down AD104 GPU.
The RTX 3080, on the other hand, has a 320-bit memory bus and a remarkable peak bandwidth of 760 GB/s, which is significantly more than the 504 GB/s bandwidth offered by the 21 GT/s GDDR6X memory in the AD104.
In actuality, the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti has a memory bandwidth that is higher than the newcomer (608 GB/s). The new graphics card is anticipated to have a sizable L2 cache, which will likely make up for a slower memory subsystem in the meantime.
The comparison of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card to its GeForce RTX 3070 and RTX 3070 Ti offerings may be an intriguing aspect of the slide. Nvidia has been emphasising that its newest GPUs can compete with or outperform higher-class previous generation offerings at a lower cost with its Ada Lovelace GPUs. It appears that Nvidia is betting on higher performance and less power at the same launch price with the GeForce RTX 4070.
