The new rumours that have come up recently in the media about the budget GeForce RTX 4060 which is widely expected to make its debut by 2023. These speculations with courtesy of Lenovo China Gaming Desktop Product Planning Manager dubbed as Wolfstame, who has shared some thoughts regarding the RTX 4060.
Well, as per a pure guess, the so-called RTX 4060 will be around 20% faster than the current RTX 3060 GPU and this suggests the performance could be similar to that of the RTX 3070. Even though its a guess but considering NVIDIA‘s performance upgrade for budget GPUs for years now, this rumour could indeed be true to some extent.
Now, Wolfstame further says because of the architectural improvements and 5nm process, the power consumption of this card could be lesser to that of the current RTX 3060, at around 150-180W. However, NVIDIA could further charge more for the card at around 10% greater than the current RTX 3060 which puts it in the RTX 3060 Ti price range.
So, its highly unlikely that NVIDIA will give only 20% upgrade to that of the predecessor considering how big of an improvement we have seen with the current RTX 4080 or 4090 GPUs. It could be that Wolfstame is referring to RTX 3060 Ti instead and only then the upgrade in price could be justified this time.
It is also been said that both DLSS3 performance on this card and NENVC codex could be further improved while we are yet to see support for AV1 codec yet. If you are wondering about availability, according to Wolfstame, this GeForce RTX 4060 based on AD106 GPU with reduced core count could indeed be launched in June 2023.
