NVIDIA is supposed to be prepping their GeForce RTX 40 SUPER GPU portfolio, which will comprise three cards: the RTX 4080 SUPER, the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and the RTX 4070 SUPER. The rumor comes from leaker @hongxing2020, who has previously been very reliable with his leaks regarding the launch dates of several GPUs and was even among the first to report that NVIDIA would possibly rename its GeForce RTX 4080 12 GB graphics card.
And that turned out to be correct since the card was “Unlaunched” and renamed to GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. According to the most recent leak, three forthcoming GeForce RTX 40 GPUs will be part of the updated “SUPER” family.
NVIDIA is preparing the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and RTX 4070 SUPER GPU Models
The GeForce RTX 30 GPUs did not use the “SUPER” naming scheme, but there is significant proof that such devices existed before the firm switched to a streamlined “Ti” strategy. With the GeForce RTX 40 GPUs, NVIDIA may reintroduce the SUPER label, like with the aforementioned cards.
There are no specifications specified, and the launch dates of the aforementioned cards have yet to be released, but these cards will almost probably aim for 2024, with an announcement by CES 2024 if we are lucky. But that’s not the only indication of a likely update. More recently, leaker MEGAsizeGPU stated that NVIDIA was working on a more powerful version of the RTX 4080, with the card sporting either the “SUPER” or “Ti” moniker. So at least two leakers appear to feel that the SUPER series is on its way.
The new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Ti graphics card will be built on the AD102 GPU core, giving it a slightly superior core configuration than the RTX 4080 Non-Ti/S. The TGP of this new model is scheduled to be 450W, which is realistically in the 380-420W region, and we may also see a memory increase with a 320-bit interface and 20 GB VRAM, since the current RTX 4080 comes with a 256-bit interface and 16 GB VRAM.
There is a significant performance and spec gap between the RTX 4080 and the RTX 4090, therefore this card will attempt to fill that void. The card’s pricing is said to be the same as the current RTX 4080, with the non-SUPER model receiving a price decrease; this may also be true for the other refreshed cards.
