NVIDIA has announced the introduction of a new SKU, the RTX 2060 12GB, with the release of the updated Game Ready driver. As a result, it is not dubbed RTX 2060 or 2060 Super 12GB, as some speculated, but just RTX 2060 12GB, as it appears in leaks.
Surprisingly, the fact that NVIDIA is releasing such an SKU is not even mentioned in the new driver’s official blog article. Instead, the SKU appears in the release notes, which are always included with the new driver.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 12GB will use a TU106 GPU with 2176 CUDA cores. This variant will not only have more CUDA cores but also double the memory of the original RTX 2060 with a 6GB buffer. As a result, the characteristics are essentially identical to the RTX 2060 SUPER; however, the bandwidth will be constrained by a 192-bit memory bus.
The inclusion of the card in the drivers appears to confirm that it will be available next week. The above-mentioned data is December 7th.
