NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050, GeForce MX570, and MX550 GPUs set for a Spring 2022 arrival

Nvidia announced the arrival of three new mobile graphics cards in the spring of 2022 in a quiet manner. The GeForce RTX 2050 will join the GeForce MX570 and MX550 as graphics cards that will power a new generation of laptops for gamers and creators.

The GA107 (Ampere) silicon, which also powers the GeForce RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti Mobile, is used in the GeForce RTX 2050 and GeForce MX570. The GeForce MX550, on the other hand, is still based on the current GeForce MX450’s TU117 (Turing) silicon.

In terms of features, the GeForce MX570 will only support “limited” Nvidia DLSS and ray tracing. The Tensor and RT cores are baked into the GeForce MX550, however, the Turing-based graphics card does not support Nvidia DLSS or ray tracing. As a result, unlike the GeForce RTX 2050 and MX570, it does not support Nvidia Broadcast. The Resizable BAR and Optimus technologies are compatible with the trio of future GeForce graphics cards, however, Advanced Optimus is not.

The GeForce RTX 2050 has 2,048 CUDA cores, which is around 7% higher than the GeForce RTX 2060. The GeForce RTX 2050, on the other hand, has a lower TDP and thus slower clock speeds. Even so, the GeForce RTX 2060 should be faster. Nvidia, as is customary, provides its partners some thermal leeway, therefore the power restriction on the GeForce RTX 2050 will vary depending on the device. In any case, the graphics card’s power consumption ranges from 30 to 45 watts. As a result, the boost clock will vary, with the GeForce RTX 2050 boosting anywhere between 1,155 and 1,477 MHz.

The GeForce RTX 2050 has 4GB of GDDR6 memory clocked at 14 Gbps in its memory configuration. The GeForce RTX 2050 has a 64-bit memory interface and can deliver a maximum memory bandwidth of 112 Gbps.

In the meantime, the GeForce MX550 will be a direct replacement for the GeForce MX450, while the GeForce MX570 appears to be a new model. Nvidia did not go into detail about the GeForce MX570 and MX550. PCIe 4.0 and GDDR6 memory support are confirmed on the product pages.

Other details on the GeForce MX570 and MX550 are unknown. The two have “more power-efficient CUDA cores and better memory speeds than prior MX GPUs,” according to the chipmaker. In addition, Nvidia promises that the GeForce MX570 and MX550 will provide a significant boost in speed and efficiency in the picture and video editing applications like Adobe Lightroom and Premiere Pro, as well as better gaming performance when compared to integrated graphics.

The boost clock (2617 MHz) of the RTX 5080 is higher than the RTX 5090 and even higher on the custom editions from NVIDIA's board partners. The availability, however, is the main question as NVIDIA themselves have stated that both the GeForce RTX 5090 & RTX 5080 will be short in supply, and they are expecting a huge demand for these next-gen gaming solutions. Several retailers have also stated that they will have limited GPU stock which will only be replenished in the coming weeks
