NVIDIA recently announced the official support for DLSS as well as NVIDIA Reflex for the hugely popular first-person shooter Rainbow Six Siege. NVIDIA’s hardware-level Deep Learning Super Sampling technology has been prolonged to implementation but worth the time because NVIDIA has really stepped up the game DLSS.

In the middle of this, suddenly DLSS 2.2 pops up while still NVIDIA blog post does not mention anything about version 2.2 anywhere. However, the latest version of this AI-based upscaling technology has already been discovered by the Redditors.

NVIDIA DLSS 2.2 has already arrived in Rainbow Six Siege

The DLL library i.e. the nvngx_dlss.dll added to the latest Rainbow Six Siege patch, which brings the latest update of the new season, carries a new version of 2.2.6.0. This implies that Rainbow Six Siege will be the first game to officially support DLSS 2.2.

The new DLSS 2.2 will be the successor to the DLSS 2.1 that debuted in October 2020, bringing 8K support to Wolfenstein Youngblood. Overall, DLSS version 2 is a lot better than version 1, and it continues to dramatically improve image quality by introducing motion vectors and a new upscaling algorithm.

It is suspected that DLSS 2.2 will not bring drastic performance improvements of that sort; however, NVIDIA DLSS is supported in the Vulkan version of the Rainbow Six Siege game and boosts performance by up to 50% at 4K, enabling all GeForce RTX GPUs to game at 100+ FPS at 4K.
