NVIDIA brings DLSS 3: Boosts Frame Rates by up to 4X

Catching up to the state-of-the-art graphics in modern games has been tough for GPU makers like NVIDIA and so they have developed the deep-learning super-sampling technique called the DLSS for a long time now since the RTX series launched back in 2018. Now, the 3rd iteration of the same tech is here which promises to boost frame rates by up to 4 times.

As we know, DLSS uses AI super-resolution and Tensor Cores on GeForce RTX GPUs to help boost frame rates while maintaining the sharpness of the game which you are playing. As this is a hardware-level upscaling technique, with each iteration DLSS is getting even better and now with DLSS 3, thanks to the increased RT cores with RTX 40-series GPUs the performance increase even further.

This will help you to experience richer, more immersive ray-traced experiences, such as NVIDIA Racer RTXCyberpunk 2077’s new Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode, and Portal with RTX.

DLSS 3 Generates Entire Frames for Faster Game Play

Huang also announced NVIDIA DLSS 3 — the next revolution in the company’s Deep Learning Super Sampling neural graphics technology for games and creative apps. The AI-powered technology can generate entire frames for massively faster gameplay. It can overcome game CPU performance limitations by allowing the GPU to generate entire frames independently.

The technology is coming to the world’s most popular game engines, such as Unity and Unreal Engine, and has received support from many of the world’s leading game developers, with more than 35 games and apps coming soon.

DLSS 2 is now widely adopted in 216 games and apps, along with support in Unity and Unreal Engine. DLSS 2 continues to improve through ongoing training on NVIDIA’s AI supercomputer, with 4 major updates released to date, which have brought further enhancements to image quality.

Portal Is RTX ON!

RTX Remix has been used by NVIDIA Lightspeed Studios to reimagine Valve’s iconic video game Portal, regarded as one of the best video games of all time. Advanced graphics features such as full ray tracing and DLSS 3 give the game a striking new look and feel. Portal with RTX will be released as free, official downloadable content for the classic platformer with RTX graphics in November, just in time for Portal’s 15th anniversary.
