NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards prices are on the rise, yet again

As we know the prices of the graphics cards in the market high risen as high as thrice their MSRP, and even though these prices are showing some signs of coming down, the truth of the matter is that they are still way above the MSRP.

And unfortunately, the prices of the cards do not look like reaching MSRP any time soon. While it’s true that NVIDIA’s RTX 30 series cards are no longer at 3x MSRP as they were in mid-May, they have started rising again after falling to 1.6x by July.

The reason for the sudden drop in the price of the cards is due to the improved availability of the cards and we also saw Radeon RX 6000 series cards drop from over 2x to 1.5x MSRP.

According to the latest data coming from 3DCenter’s analysis, now have a bleak picture on both fronts with prices increasing again and availability dropping off. To our dismay, the prices of the RTX 30 series have risen again to 1.7x MSRP, which is the highest they have ever been since June.

In the case of AMD, the RX 6000 cards are now at 1.74x on average, with the margin between MSRP and current prices remaining above RTX 30 series cards for a second month. 3DCenter also stated that the Radeon RX 6800 XT is the most inflated graphics card however according to AMD the card should sell for €649 in the Eurozone, but retailers are charging upwards of €1,299 which is a 2x mark-up.

Neither AMD nor NVIDIA expects prices to drop soon, but to make matters worse, both have estimated that the availability could remain still tight until late 2022, which may well be the RTX 30 and RX 6000 series full product cycle.
