Mohun Bagan SG’s new signing Nuno Reis has received his visa to land in Kolkata. The player is set to land in the city on Sunday, and will soon be available to feature in the club’s fixtures.
The Spanish defender was set to sign for Mohammedan Sporting after the injury to Abdul Kadiri. However, Mohun Bagan SG swooped in to complete the transfer as they had their eyes on him previously as well.

The Spaniard will directly replace Alberto Rodriguez in centre-back, after he suffered an injury. Reis was initially recruited to play in the AFC Cup, since there is no restriction on the number of foreigners in the continental competition.
With the ISL ruling that foreigners can be included and de-registered at any point in the season, Reis will seemingly feature in the league as well. His arrival would help Alberto Rodriguez recover at his own pace. It would also help them improve their defence in the continental competition.
Reis will likely partner with Tom Aldred in defence, while Subhasish Bose and Dippendu Biswas might have a less prominent role in central defence. It now remains to be seen how things turn out for the Mariners after earning a 3-2 win over NorthEast United in their latest fixture.
