Omar Richards has become the latest new signing for Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window. The 24-year-old has been officially announced by the club, after passing his medical to complete the transfer yesterday.
Bayern Munich and Nottingham Forest agreed a fee worth €10 million for Richards. The Bavarians have also included a 15% sell-on clause in his contract, which means they are entitled to the said percentage of any future fee that Forest receive for him.
Omar Richards joins Nottingham Forest
The former England U-21 international has returned to his home country only one year after moving to Germany. Here is what Omar Richards had to say about his new challenge:
“I’m thrilled to return to England by joining Nottingham Forest at such an exciting time,” Richards told Forest’s official website. “The club has enjoyed an incredible last few months and there’s great ambitions for the Premier League return.
“I’ve played against Forest in the past and they get such great backing from their fans, whilst the City Ground is an amazing place that I can now call home.”
With Bayern, the left-back made 23 appearances this past season as he helped them win a tenth straight Bundesliga title. He came through the Fulham academy, and has also featured for Reading prior to joining the German giants. And now, he is part of an ambitious squad that is preparing for their first Premier League season since 1999.
