Carl Pei-backed Nothing launched their first smartphone in the global market, the launch was an extremely hyped one as the company had managed to prevent any specifications from leaking and the build of their phone seemed to fascinate the entire tech community. However, just weeks after its initial launch, the company decided to hike the price in India, usually, price hikes are good because the cost goes down but in this case, it is the opposite.

Nothing Phone(1) will now cost you an additional Rs.1,000 for these models…

Vice President and General Manager of Nothing’s India division, Manu Sharma has revealed the reason behind the increase in prices. In a tweet, he states the following, “Thank you for the love shown towards Phone(1), with fluctuating currency exchange rates and rising component costs, we had to change prices.” If you have not already ordered the Phone(1) then we are sorry to tell you that you will have to shell out Rs.33,999 for the base version as opposed to the older price of Rs.32,999.

Thank you for the love shown towards Phone (1)!

With fluctuating currency exchange rates & rising component costs, we had to change prices.

Starting today, Phone (1) will be available @flipkart for 8GB/128GB (INR 33,999), 8GB/256GB (INR 36,999), and 12GB/256GB (INR 39,999).

The 8GB+128GB version along with the higher-end 8GB+256GB and 12GB+256GB variants all have seen a considerable hike in their prices in the Indian market alone. The uncertainty around the rupee in comparison to the dollar has been a pivotal reason why the company has had to bump its prices up.

The increase in component costs has not helped them either. The Phone(1) is the first smartphone from Nothing and it arrives with a 6.55″ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, powered by the Snapdragon 778G+ chipset paired with 8GB/12GB RAM options and 128GB/256GB storage options, it has a dual-camera setup on the rear with a 50MP primary sensor and a 50MP secondary lens while it sports a 16MP selfie shooter. For battery, it has a 4,500mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging. You can buy the smartphone here.
