Nothing Phone 2a Plus Chipset Details Confirmed Ahead of July 31 Launch

Shortly after releasing the Nothing Phone 2a in India earlier this year, Nothing seems to be preparing a “Plus” version. The Nothing Phone 2a Plus is confirmed to debut in India on July 31. In fact, the company revealed the details of the chipset even before its launch. The Nothing Phone 2a Plus will continue to use a MediaTek Dimensity series flagship processor for this year’s phone upgrade, as it did with last year’s Pro edition, trading up from a Dimensity 7200 Pro to Dimensity 7350 Pro.

More About the Nothing Phone 2a Plus

The Phone 2a was an excellent all-rounder with a bit of grunt, but it performed very well indeed for mid-level graphic games; it was just not specially designed to be the best. However, the Nothing Phone 2a Plus is being marketed as a “gamer’s dream.” Nothing is highlighting the gaming capabilities of the new smartphone, which will be interesting to evaluate.

However, there is no mention of the Dimensity 7350 Pro 5G chip being built with TSMC’s new Gen 2 technology, and nor will it pack an octa-core CPU capable of running at speeds up to a maximum clock rate of say less than or just above that indicated. That chip itself is said to be roughly 10 percent faster on the CPU side than the Dimensity 7200 Pro inside of Phone 2a. It will also include an ARM Mali-G610 MC4 GPU clocked at 1.3 GHz, which Nothing says will provide a 30 percent better gaming experience compared to the Nothing Phone 2a.

On top of that, the Nothing Phone 2a Plus will feature up to 12 GB RAM and can be boosted by an extra 8 GB thanks to the RAM Booster. This time, the front lens will also support 4K video recording and there’s a pro mode for HDR images in addition to supporting playback of HDR10+. The device comes with Dual 5G, Bluetooth 5.3, and Wi-Fi 6 for better connectivity in terms of speed, coverage, and power usage.

A few days ago, Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis also posted an initial image of a grey color variant and flagship at Absolutely Nothing Phone 2a Plus. The image was captioned: “Plus, More, Extra.” “With the Phone 2a Plus, we had the chance to create an enhanced version for savvy users who demand more processing power. We also made improvements that didn’t require hardware design changes, and we wrapped it up with a new variant that reflects these upgrades,” Evangelidis wrote in his post on X.
