It was kind of expected and recently confirmed by 91mobiles, the upcoming Nothing Phone (2) will be powered by the older yet capable Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 based on TSMC’s 4nm process.

Speculations started to surround when Nothing Founder Car Pei stood with Qualcomm CEO at the MWC with a t-shirt confirming the new Nothing Phone (2) to come with Snapdragon 8 series chipset but no one knew which one Carl’s company would opt for.

Nothing Phone (2) will adopt Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1

While a lot of people guessed it to be the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which again would have cost higher, our gut feeling always said it would be the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Similar to what OnePlus did with its 11R, Carl Pei has similar plans in his mind to make the Nothing Phone (2) both powerful and cost-effective.

While you remember that the Nothing Phone (1) was kind of a perfect mid-range device but making good phones that are powerful is a norm, especially in the 2022-23 era. Now, using this Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which specifically fixed the flaws of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 using Samsung node, the Nothing Phone (2) could make an impact as an affordable flagship, whose market is very popular in countries like India.
