Its been over a year now, the pandemic has made our lifestyle totally different and work-from-home being the new norm for many. This is the reason why demand for laptops have skyrocketed in a short span of time and notebook manufacturers enjoying the insane demand of laptops.
The latest report from Strategy Analytics show that the demand for notebooks is still very high as in Q1 2021 too, a lot of work is still done from home and even new employees are being hired as well as provided with notebooks to work from home.
Almost all OEMs have seen an increase in notebook shipments across the board as market grew 81% compared to same time last year. As you see Lenovo shipping as much as 16.3 million units to be the market leader, followed by HP with 15.4 million units and 10.0 million units for Dell.
Lenovo enjoyed as much as an 84% increase in shipment year-over-year while HP enjoying a 91% increase year-over-year while Dell only managing a 37% increase year-over-year.
The three giants have been followed by Apple in fourth place with 5.7 million units shipped and enjoying a 94% increase year-over-year, and you have Acer in fifth place with 4.9 million units shipped and enjoying a 94% increase year-over-year.
Other laptop brands like ASUS, VAIO, MSI, Razer, etc., who form the Other category, have also witnessed a huge increase in notebook shipments, from 8.1 million units last year to 15.8 million in Q1 2021 with a 96% increase year-over-year.
While Lenovo now has 23.9% of the market, making it the market leader once again is slowly been chased down by HP with 22.6% of the market share, followed by Dell with 14.6% share. Whereas the Cupertino giant still enjoys 8.4% of the market share and Acer with 7.2% and others accounting for 23.2%.
