Norwich City have been relegated from the Premier League, and sent back to the Championship. Dean Smith’s former club, Aston Villa, were the ones to confirm their relegation, with a 2-0 win for Steven Gerrard’s team sealing their fate.

Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings scored the two goals to send Norwich back to the Championship. Former Norwich City star Emiliano Buendia provided the assist for Danny Ings’ goal in stoppage time to confirm relegation for his former employers.

The Canaries have been relegated the most number of times in the Premier League era, with them dropping down six times. Four of them have been right after they have been promoted from the second tier, which gives validity to the claims of them being a yo-yo club.

While they are able to dominate matches in the second tier, they struggle to perform in the top flight consistently. The dismissal of former manager Daniel Farke and appointment of Dean Smith in the middle of the season didn’t help their chances of staying up either.

Norwich could be joined by Watford on the way down to the Championship, with the Hornets having only one more point than them. The battle for the third team to be relegated is still up in the air, but while Burnley have moved away from the bottom spot, Everton are on the verge of dropping down.
