ATK Mohun Bagan completed a comeback to earn a win against NorthEast United FC in the ISL. Here are the three talking points from the entertaining game:
Juan Ferrando era begins with a win
Former FC Goa head coach Juan Ferrando was recently announced as the replacement for Antonio Habas, who left ATK after four games without a win. The Mariners now have their first three points in four games, after a thoroughly attacking game.
ATK Mohun Bagan had the most number of shots so far this season, with 25. But, only a fraction of them were on target for the opposition goalkeeper to engage with. Regardless, he was beaten thrice and that is all that matters now that the game is done.
Heartbreak for NorthEast
Despite being on the losing side this game, NorthEast United have a lot to be proud of. They were leading up until half time, and produced a remarkable display against ATK.
The Highlanders had a number of chances that they could take throughout the second half. They lost by a small margin, and the players were visibly disappointed with the result at full time.
Hugo Boumous stars for ATK
The attacking midfielder is currently tied with Bartholomew Ogbeche as the top scorer in ISL. The Hyderabad forward leads with one less game played at this stage. Boumous has been an outstanding recruitment this season, and his brace earned ATK Mohun Bagan the win today.
Liston Colaco picked up the Hero of the Match award, netting the equaliser for ATK before half time with a well placed header.
