The countdown is over. **Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey** has closed its advance booking window on a high note, selling around **140,000 tickets** across India’s top national chains ahead of its theatrical release. With rave reviews already trickling in from special premieres, all eyes are now on whether the epic drama can turn strong pre-sales into a blockbuster opening day.

## The Odyssey Advance Booking

| Detail | Information |
| --- | --- |
| Tickets Sold (National Chains) | ~140,000 |
| Advance Booking Gross | Rs 8.25 crore+ |
| Lead Cast | Tom Holland, Matt Damon |
| Director | Christopher Nolan |
| Comparison Film | Oppenheimer |
| Pinkvilla Predicts Estimate | Rs 15-18 crore (pin-point: Rs 16.50 crore) |
| Target Opening Day Gross | Rs 20 crore |

## How It Compares to Oppenheimer

While The Odyssey’s ticket count trails Oppenheimer’s final national-chain sales of over 2 lakh tickets, high ticket pricing has helped it edge ahead in raw numbers — grossing over Rs 7.75 crore in advances against Oppenheimer’s Rs 7.50 crore at the same stage. The film’s momentum picked up notably in its final two days of sales, outpacing Oppenheimer’s corresponding window, largely fueled by strong word-of-mouth from premiere screenings.

## What to Expect on Opening Day

Oppenheimer had opened to Rs 17.77 crore gross (Rs 14.58 crore nett) on its first day back in 2023. The Odyssey now aims to inch close to the Rs 20 crore gross mark, with trade estimates pegging its opening closer to Rs 16.50 crore nett. Loosely inspired by the ancient Greek epic poem, [Homer’s Odyssey](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odyssey), Nolan’s film enters theaters carrying both the weight of its source material’s legacy and the expectations set by his previous box office triumphs.

If early reception proves positive, the film could be looking at a solid opening weekend across Indian multiplexes.
