That’s a premise that practically sells itself. An NRI heroine, a long-buried first love, and a wedding setting — it’s the kind of story Malayalam audiences have embraced time and again, most recently through *Premalu*, the blockbuster that made Girish AD a household name. Interestingly, this film reunites him with the same creative spirit — this time at a larger scale and with bigger stars.

The [romantic comedy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romantic_comedy_film) genre has a deep, beloved legacy in Malayalam cinema, and *Bethlehem Kudumba Unit* looks set to carry that torch into Onam 2026 with style.

## The Onam Box Office Battle

This film won’t have the festival season to itself. It is expected to clash at the box office with Prithviraj Sukumaran’s *Khalifa* and Dulquer Salmaan’s *I’m Game*, both of which have officially confirmed August 20, 2026 as their release date. Three big Malayalam films, one massive Onam weekend — it’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting festive clashes in recent memory. **Mamitha Baiju** is riding high on momentum — she’s set to appear opposite Suriya in *Vishwanath And Sons* and also has Thalapathy Vijay’s *Jana Nayagan* awaiting its release date.
