Jeff Grubb, a reliable insider, recently addressed the rumours regarding Nintendo’s likely follow-up to the Switch. Over the last few years, speculation surrounding the next Nintendo system has spread across the internet, with many speculating that the Japanese gaming superpower is moving its focus towards its development. While the Nintendo Switch has become one of the best-selling systems of all time, it is now six years old, and many fans are looking forward to new hardware.
Only a few days ago, the internet was bombarded with one of the most significant Switch successor rumours to date. Nintendo Switch 2 rumours suggest an announcement at Gamescom 2023
On the most recent edition of his YouTube audio show Last of the Nintendogs, Jeff Grubb addressed the newest Nintendo console rumours.
He highlighted that the rumours of the Nintendo Switch 2 console arriving in late 2024 correspond to reports he’s heard about Nintendo revealing new hardware this summer – though he also stressed that it’s difficult to tell for certain how reliable these reports truly are.
Aside from the anticipated announcement and release date of the new Nintendo console, fans and industry insiders have speculated about the hardware and software characteristics of this rumoured system – and how it would improve on the console/handheld hybrid mix that made the Switch a household name. According to other rumours, major companies have already received development kits for this as-yet-unnamed system and are hard at work on launch titles for it.
