Aston Villa have reached an agreement with Turkish club Galatasaray for the signing of Nicolo Zaniolo. The Italian will be returning to Europe’s top leagues and playing in the Premier League, after spending six months in Turkey.

The two clubs have reached an agreement worth €27 million in total as part of a loan deal with a buy option. Personal terms have already been agreed since Zaniolo only wanted to move to Aston Villa. The medical assessment is set to take place this week to complete the transfer, if the other formalities are completed.

The Turkish side have been quite active in the transfer market this summer, recruiting Angelino from RB Leipzig, Mauro Icardi on a permanent deal from PSG and Wilfried Zaha on a free transfer after the winger left Crystal Palace.

Since joining the club in January, Nicolo Zaniolo has scored five goals in ten league appearances, helping them win the title. And now, he will be a part of an ambitious project under Unai Emery.

Aston Villa have been remarkable in the transfer market after appointing Monchi as their new sporting director. They have signed Youri Tielemans on a free transfer, Pau Torres and Moussa Diaby already. The addition of Zaniolo will help the Midlands club cope with the absence of Emi Buendia due to a long-term injury.

It remains to be seen whether they indulge in more signings to compete in Europe and domestic competitions, or whether their squad is set for the season.
